Remember being disappointed that El Diablo didn't draw a devil in your crema or whatever? Well this is what I got at Zoka last night. I was impressed.

Would I be crazy to buy a car in Rhode Island and drive it back to Seattle?

Comment from: ben [Member] ·
How quickly would it allow you to go out west?
Permalink 05/15/07 @ 15:22
Comment from: graham [Member] ·
If you're asking how fast the car is, the answer would be "fairly quickly."

Skid, wheelie, barspin, ride backwards. Repeat ad nauseam.

I'm gonna make a fixie video.

Comment from: graham [Member] ·
... and has anyone else noticed the Aerospoke resurgence? Hipsters: old and shitty does not equal retro. Wait, I take that back... you should put Answer Hyperlite bars on your fixies, then go weave through traffic.

Are we talking about Spin tri-spokes or bladed regular spokes?

I still have my Answer Taperlite.
Permalink 05/01/07 @ 14:37
Comment from: graham [Member] ·
Five heavy carbon spokes, most commonly seen on cop bikes. They suck.

I'm not sure if Taperlites fail as reliably as Hyperlites. Otherwise I might suggest that you donate it to your local point83 chapter.

Comment from: ben [Member] ·
Are there hyperlites left? It's been well over 10 years...

I always liked the Aerospokes... almost as nifty as the 30lb gold plated Colnago...

Oh, also:

My last day in New York, I was riding the Bianchi backwards in circles at a traffic light with two hard drives in my bag... and I went down... quite hard. Front wheel went forwards, rear went backwards, I stayed upright for a fraction of a second.

I can't remember the last time I saw an Aerospoke wheel. The Chicago bike cops used to have Amps with Grimeca wheels...

I still can't ride backwards, but I did actual get out on my Guerciotti yesterday.

So what are you going to do in this video?

Exactly. Just like this. Oh, I almost forgot... running over people's dogs. That always makes good footage.

Some of those guys have freewheels. Pansies.

I especially liked the "wallride". And the smoking. And the stairs at the beginning. You should hop down stairs sideways.

Rob, the crumpet shop guy (the owner's son?), is in a hip hop group. They were on the radio, and I think he swore in the song they played.

The day I couldn't find the crate of LZ.

Comment from: ben [Member] ·
What does it mean? Has the LZ been replaced by a higher priced and probably inferior alternative? What is the world coming to?
Permalink 04/04/07 @ 19:55
Comment from: graham [Member] ·
I haven't tried the Lanzaga yet, but it's older and more expensive, therefore better, right? I was in a hurry so I didn't bother asking if there was more LZ hidden somewhere. I'd like to go back and track down a bottle (the one in the picture is empty) so I can properly compare the two.
Permalink 04/05/07 @ 09:46

Despite a moldy, then uncooperative cork, I really enjoyed the Lanzaga.

...shenandoah davis sits in her room and writes songs by herself instead of making new friends in her new city. one such song recently caused a car accident in chicago when a computer programmer from ghana found the music to be so unpleasing to his ears that he unbuckled his seatbelt and climbed to the front of the car, scaring the driver who then plowed the car directly into a lamp-post. (aforementioned song has since been removed from myspace.)...

Also, I wasn't called a programmer... which makes me happy.

Some horrid woman bought one of my paintings, the big blue one, Skating Fingers I've been calling it, for twice the asking price of $10. I was hoping to find them homes... and I briefly thought I did, though now I'm fairly sure she intends to paint over it. She was quiet, claimed to want my painting to hang on her wall, but then her awful friend offered to buy the remaining three... proudly proclaiming she was going to paint over them. When I blanched, she offered a collaboration (my painting with hers on top... hooray!)... That was when I started to get the hint that her friend was uninterested in my art.

But, I'd already accepted her money, already handed her a receipt... so it seemed final. Some art student overheard, and congratulated me on my sale, then gave me the nastiest look imaginable when he found out I wasn't a real artist... what with the bargain prices and all...

As they were walking away... and I was standing befuddled next to Myer, I said, "I feel dirty..." thinking it was funny since I'd just accepted money for art... my art... but as I said it, I realized I did feel dirty. I wonder if selling your art to some oil magnate for $20,000 feels any better than selling it to some soulless artist for $20.

Anyway... I wrote this on the back of her painting. If she reuses my canvas, she's going to need thick paint.

The red one, I've been calling it Making Red Snowmen, found a nice home at least. The other two, the breasts, are going in storage or being sold to some friendly man who talks a lot about Eastern Europe.

If Dean uses air quotes when calling my masterpieces "art" again, I'm going to cry.

I'm going to print some of these out in the morning, about 2pm, so if you want to fix it before then, ask... I'll send you the .ai and great fun will be had by all.

Also, you're invited.

Should I put names of people on it?

Can I get a?

The top one has quite a bit of tape on it. Under the tape is unpainted canvas. I'm considering leaving the tape... but I can't decide... I'd really like to see what's under it.

I'm also running out of time. I have one more day, then maybe two after skiing, then one final day after New Years.

This is 4 realz.

Based on the probable number of red Lotus Elise's in the Seattle area (i.e. approx. 0), you're probably looking at Wil Shipley's (of Delicious Monster and Omni fame) car.

Wow... good call. I haven't noticed too many Elises in Seattle, but for some reason you can't walk a block in Redmond without bumping into six of them.

I used a chair as a tripod, but I think we're seeing the limits of the crap lenses in my incredibly cheap camera. It doesn't really matter, seeing my brush strokes will only confirm what you already know. a blank canvas.
