Going to get the Chub working soon! I think the QR Chub was some kind of hack; the Chub people had no idea what I was talking about when I told them I had one of their hubs with a quick release skewer.

Now you need a front one.... though I guess it wouldn't match.

Against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain.

Thankfully because she followed our instructions, she ended up in our cell instead of a morgue," Pare said. "Again, this is a serious offense ... I'm shocked and appalled that somebody would wear this type of device to an airport.

That's right --- she's lucky to be alive. Clowns.

I'm surprised how flat the torque curve is. Gotta love that sweet spot at 5200rpm.
Permalink 07/17/07 @ 09:18
Comment from: graham [Member] ·
Even though it looks relatively flat, you can really feel that little rise in torque after 4000. Anything over 5000 sounds and feels pretty good.

How long is film usable after it expires? Specifically 120 Kodak 400UC.
Thanks, you're the best,

Comment from: other graham [Visitor] ·
if they're not lying about the cool, dry conditions, that film should be totally fine. after a couple of years, the colors might shift a little, but it'll still work. many years later, i hear it gets pretty nutty...

Oh my god, what have I gotten myself into? I've already begun buying parts for it.

Comment from: ben [Member] ·
If it's this way now, imagine how you're going to feel when your girlfriend destroys the transmission and you end up having it and the engine rebuilt.

Did you buy a great big spoiler for it? Some LEDs to light up the pavement? Maybe some blue headlights?

$179 worth of switches, knobs, electrical bits, rubber plugs and door hinge parts.

Oh, and an engine rebuild is already on my to-do list for this winter. If I can find a place with garage space I might actually try it myself.

Skid, wheelie, barspin, ride backwards. Repeat ad nauseam.

I'm gonna make a fixie video.

Comment from: graham [Member] ·
... and has anyone else noticed the Aerospoke resurgence? Hipsters: old and shitty does not equal retro. Wait, I take that back... you should put Answer Hyperlite bars on your fixies, then go weave through traffic.

Comment from: collin [Member] ·
Are we talking about Spin tri-spokes or bladed regular spokes?

I still have my Answer Taperlite.
Permalink 05/01/07 @ 14:37
Comment from: graham [Member] ·
Five heavy carbon spokes, most commonly seen on cop bikes. They suck.

I'm not sure if Taperlites fail as reliably as Hyperlites. Otherwise I might suggest that you donate it to your local point83 chapter.
Permalink 05/01/07 @ 15:05
Comment from: ben [Member] ·
Are there hyperlites left? It's been well over 10 years...

I always liked the Aerospokes... almost as nifty as the 30lb gold plated Colnago...

Oh, also:

My last day in New York, I was riding the Bianchi backwards in circles at a traffic light with two hard drives in my bag... and I went down... quite hard. Front wheel went forwards, rear went backwards, I stayed upright for a fraction of a second.

Comment from: collin [Member] ·
I can't remember the last time I saw an Aerospoke wheel. The Chicago bike cops used to have Amps with Grimeca wheels...

I still can't ride backwards, but I did actual get out on my Guerciotti yesterday.

So what are you going to do in this video?

It looks like an interesting proofreading/annotation engine for webpages.

Does anyone else know of similar software? I wonder if it works on dynamic pages...

Comment from: anwar [Member] ·
The annotations stay loaded -- but if the dynamic page changes, the region information [for the given annotation] will be lost.

If I ever bought a smartphone it would look like this:

I'm actually pretty sold on the usefulness of Blackberries. I like how it polls the mail server... now if it weren't all proprietary with the mailness... and if it only had a camera... and the ability to run programs I write... and... wait, I just want a Windows Mobile phone... damnit.
